New Integrated Female Program Produces Results

The WA All Abilities Football Association has hailed its inaugural female integrated pilot program a resounding success.

WAAAFA teamed up with Sisterup to deliver a female specific integrated football program to their participants, with four sessions over an eight week period.

A DJ provided music at each session as participants were taken through a series of drills and skill development by coaches Tom Medhat and Sarah Watkins.

As part of the program participants played a match at Optus Stadium at half time during the West Coast Eagles/Gold Coast match earlier this month, which was a thrill for everyone involved.

Ten participants and their mentors from Sisterup took part in the program.

Samantha Otway, Inclusion Programs Coordinator at the WA All Abilities Football Association, was delighted with how the initiative was embraced.

“The development of those involved over the four sessions was so exciting to witness,” Otway said.

“By the final session the handballing and kicking skills had improved significantly.

“This is a program we will look to grow in the 2025 football season.

“Having the opportunity to work alongside Sisterup to deliver this program was instrumental in its success.”
