WA All Abilities Youth Integrated League Round 1

The WA All Abilities Youth Integrated competition kicked off last Saturday with four teams participating.

Round 1 attracted nearly 40 children and will run for four weeks, extending the Starkick programs.

Kids from different Starkick clubs were welcomed to join four registered teams: Quinns, Joondalup, Ellenbrook Dockers, and the Coolbinia Bombers.

Ja Smith, Coach of the Coolbinia Junior Football Club, expressed his satisfaction with offering this opportunity to children who have a passion for sports but face barriers in mainstream settings.

“It was great to see the kids in a proper game format. I think they thoroughly enjoyed it, as did the parents,” Smith said.

Caroline Hilton, Team Manager from the Ellenbrook Dockers Junior Football Club, acknowledged the game's format and praised the umpires officiating on the day.

“I really liked that each player played in a different position each quarter. The rules are perfect, and I felt our umpire did really well, using discretion where appropriate to allow a great flow in the game.”

The WA All Abilities Football Association is looking forward to the next three rounds of the competition and hopes to expand it in the future.

This initiative aims to provide inclusive sporting opportunities and foster community spirit among young participants.
