APM Secures Naming Rights for WA All Abilities Football State Teams
Global provider of health, employment, disability, and workplace services APM has expanded its relationship with the WA All Abilities Football Association (WAAAFA) by becoming the naming rights partner for WA’s State AFL Inclusion and Wheelchair Football teams.
This announcement underscores APM’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusivity and enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities within the sporting landscape.
WAAAFA Executive Officer Hayden Marchetto welcomed APM’s new role as naming rights partner, acknowledging the organisation’s support over the past three years.
“APM has been a crucial partner in supporting our mission to provide greater access and participation for athletes of all abilities,” said Marchetto.
“Their decision to extend this partnership reinforces the shared values between our organisations and will undoubtedly enhance the resources and opportunities available for our state teams.”
APM Group Chief Executive Officer, Mike Anghie said: “At APM, we believe that inclusive sports are vital for fostering a sense of belonging and community.
“Sponsoring WAAAFA underscores our commitment to providing opportunities for everyone to engage in sport, regardless of their abilities.
“Together, we can create a more inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive and enjoy the benefits of teamwork and community.”
The APM WA AFL Inclusion State Team and APM WA Wheelchair State Team will take part in the AFL Open Inclusion Carnival in November.
The expanded partnership will also see up to six APM employees offered the opportunity to take on key roles in assisting the State Teams preparation ahead of the national carnival.
“APM’s involvement goes beyond financial support—they are investing in people,” Marchetto added.
“Their staff will have the chance to be directly involved in the team’s journey, creating meaningful experiences that align with our goals of promoting inclusivity in sport.”
This is the first time the AFL has run a national event for footballers with an intellectual disability and wheelchair players.
More than 200 players representing their state will attend the inaugural event in Queensland, previously the AFL National Inclusion Carnival and Wheelchair AFL National Championships were held over two events.
The AFL aims to elevate and strengthen the competitions by combining both into one major tournament.
